$775,000 Verdict in Which Car Drives into Woman in Road

We represented a woman who was standing in  the road by the curb raking leaves when she was hit by a car coming down  the street she lived on. In the collision both her legs and her collar  bone were broken. In addition she suffered a closed head injury,  resulting in some confusion and difficulty remembering details of her  life. She was hospitalized for a protracted period of time and then  underwent extensive physical therapy to re-learn how to walk, and to  develop coping strategies for her memory impairment. At trial, we  presented evidence showing that the defendant driver had been  inattentive, failed to see our client, and failed to drive around her,  although he had ample room to do so.

After trial the jury returned a verdict of $775,000.
